Longview Police continue to look into a Saturday morning crash reported in downtown Longview, resulting in the death of Gene Hansen, 76, of Rainier. This was reported at about 9:45 Saturday morning, in the area of 14th and Douglas. LPD says that Hansen was heading eastbound on Douglas when his minivan went off the roadway, hitting a stairway on the north end of the YMCA. The van bounced off the stairway, continuing east on Douglas. The minivan then hit a light pole next to the Women’s Health Clinic on the corner of 14th and Douglas. Two people attempted CPR on Hansen, but he was declared dead a short time later. No one else was in the vehicle. Autopsy results are pending.
