Lower Columbia College continues to compete on the national stage in Public Debate, and continues to haul down major hardware. A LCC freshman from Longview, Colten Sullivent, went to Gustavus Adolphus College in Minneapolis to compete in the Novice division of International Public Debate at the Pi Kappa Delta National Tournament. Sullivent went 4-2 in the prelims, 3-0 in the quarterfinals, 2-1 in the semis, then lost the National finals in a 3-2 decision to finish second in the nation. Sullivent defeated representatives from Murray State University, Boise State, and Webster State on his way to the finals, losing to an opponent from William Carey University of Mississippi. This is the second time that LCC has competed in a Phi Kappa Delta national tourney, and it’s the second time that LCC has finished second in this category. LCC will be hosting the Northwest Regional Debate championships on the 23rd and 24th of this month.
