The 2010 Kelso Highlander Festival is set for this weekend, running tomorrow and Sunday, with most events centered around Tam O’Shanter Park. There will be a Scottish shortbread competition, along with other competitions in piping and Highland Games. “Tempest” is set to perform at 2:30 and 4 pm on Saturday. On Sunday, the “Kirkin’ of the Tartan” church service will be held at 8:30 am, and the Heavyweight Highland games get under way at 9 am. The shotgun start for the Kilted Klassic golf tourney at Three Rivers is set for 10 am on Sunday, and there will be live entertainment from 11:30 am to 5 pm. The Kelso Rotary Duck Race is set for 2 pm on the Allen Street Bridge. Admission is free, and the weather should be great.
