Third District Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler was in town yesterday, meeting with about a dozen local small business owners to discuss current issues that they’re facing. Herrera Beutler says that small businesses are still the main job-creation engine in this area and across the country, and she says that she remains focused on helping to stoke that engine. Those attending yesterday’s session talked about their frustration with Federal red tape, and how it’s driving up their costs. The issue regarding the stranglehold on credit for small businesses was also brought up. Impacts of high fuel prices were also discussed, along with price hikes that are being manipulated by financial speculators. Herrera Beutler plans to be in the district through this weekend, returning to the “other Washington” on Sunday.
