It’s now being reported that a cash reward of $500 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons who doused a cat with gasoline, then set it on fire shortly before midnight Sunday in Longview. Residents of the 200 block of 22nd Avenue reported seeing the cat on fire, then Longview Police found the cat’s remains in a nearby alley. Officers say that there was a strong smell of gasoline coming from the remains. It’s not clear right now if the cat was alive prior to being set on fire. The Humane Society of Cowlitz County announced the reward yesterday. Work continues to try and find the cat’s owner. Anyone with information on the case should call Longview Police at 442-5800.
