Allen Street Standoff

Posted on 30th January 2015 at 09:22

Despite dealing with a highly intoxicated man who has access to multiple firearms and who claimed to have bombs in his house, Kelso Police were able to end a two-hour standoff at a trailer park off of Allen Street peacefully last night. This got started shortly after 6 pm, when a man called 911 from the trailer park behind the Taco Bell. The caller says that he had been visiting Ronald Charles Kennedy, 47, who proceeded to become highly intoxicated, and threatened to commit suicide. The caller claims that Kennedy put a gun to his head, but the caller got that weapon away. Kennedy then pulled another gun, and pointed it at the caller. The caller punched Kennedy, got away and called 911. Police surrounded the trailer, also evacuating neighboring trailers and shutting down traffic on Allen Street. Over more than two hours, officers continued to try and talk with Kennedy, who reportedly said “Just shoot me” at one point. They also say Kennedy claimed to have bombs wired outside of his door. The negotiations continued, and police were eventually able to peacefully take him into custody at about 8:30 pm. Kennedy is now being held for making bomb threats and on a single count of first-degree assault.
