Kelso High School Junior Myckelle Mathis is going to be part of a big weekend in Portland, as she competes in the Oregon Potters Association Scholarship Competition. One of her pottery pieces created at Kelso High has been selected as a finalist in the regional competition, and is now on display at the Oregon Convention Center in downtown Portland. The finalists are being judged by a jury of OPA members and educators, and the winner will be announced in a special ceremony that’s being held tomorrow evening. The Oregon Potters Association show is going on today through Sunday at the Oregon Convention Center; the High School Gallery is located in Hall A at the Center.
