A public Celebration of Life for ten month-old Olivia Marie Smith of Longview is planned for 3 pm Sunday afternoon at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Longview. The baby died last Sunday at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, succumbing to the rapid onset of a bacterial meningitis infection. Organizers say that this will also be a potluck, so if you would like to prepare a dish and be a part of this celebration, that would be welcomed. A donation account to help baby Olivia’s family with expenses connected to her medical and funeral bills is now open at all Fibre Federal Credit Union branches. A number of fundraising activities are also planned around the area. From 11 am to 3 pm tomorrow, a car wash will be held at Behrend’s Auto Body Shop on South Pacific Avenue in Kelso. Jaime Campbell is raffling off a $50 McDonald’s gift card. Next Monday, the 38th Avenue McDonald’s will be donating a portion of its proceeds to the Smith family. A fundraising event is also being planned for Saturday, December 7th at the Axis Sports Bar in downtown Longview. Details on that event will be released at a later date.
