Kelso Police are looking into a vandalism incident reported at Barnes Elementary School, where someone did serious damage to playground equipment that had only been in place since this past Monday. School officials reported the damage yesterday morning, saying that someone dug deep holes and scratched obscenities into plastic portions on six pieces of the play structure. It’s reported that Barnes Elementary School kids and other supporters of the school worked for five years to collect some $20,000 to purchase the new equipment. School District officials say that the loss is insured, but there’s also a $1,000 deductible that they’ll need to cover. If you have information on this case, you should call Kelso Police at 423-1270, or you can leave an anonymous tip on the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 577-1206.
