Charles Kenneth Potter, 45, of Longview is in the County Jail, while the Sheriff’s Office works to find a woman who is thought to be his accomplice in a burglary reported yesterday afternoon on Bergly Lane, west of Longview. A man living in the 200 block of Bergly Lane called 911 at about 3:20 yesterday afternoon, reporting that he thought someone had burglarized the home, which is in the process of being remodeled. The 911 caller then reported seeing a woman walking on the hill behind the home, while a man came out from behind the house. The homeowner and a neighbor attempted to hold the man for Deputies, while the woman walked away down Bergly Lane. Potter tried to leave on a motorcycle that he had, but the homeowner and the neighbor knocked him down. The suspect allegedly threw his helmet at the homeowner, then ran into the woods. Deputies arrived, and after confirming his identity, arrested Potter on charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree possession of stolen property. It turns out that authorities had been looking for Potter in connection with a motorcycle that had been stolen from Rainier. He’s now being held on bail of $50,000, but additional charges could be filed, as the Narcotics Task Force reports that they have probable cause to charge Potter with delivery of meth. The woman involved has tentatively been identified, but she remains at large this morning.
