The weather should be pretty amazing for the sixth annual Cowlitz Bike to Work Week, which starts today and runs through Friday. A number of activities are planned through the week in connection with this event, which is intended to help raise awareness of cycling as an alternative to driving back and forth to your job. Steve Harvey is part of the group working to promote Bike to Work Week, saying that the goal is to motivate people to ride more often throughout the year, no matter what the purpose or goal is. If you would like to take part, the first step is to register on the Cowlitz on the Move website, at cowlitzonthemove-dot-org. Today from 7 to 9 am, registered riders can pick up a free cup of coffee and a goodie bag at the Triangle Center Starbucks outlet. That will also get you in line for a number of prize giveaways. There will also be free bike safety checks at Canyonview Cyclery on 14th Avenue and at Bob’s Bike Shop on Hudson Street through the week. Bike to Work Week wraps up on Friday at Cassava, where you’ll be able to share your experiences and the prize drawings will be held. There is no cost to take part.
