The local high school robotics team, Bits and Bots, Team 3812, was honored with the “Gracious Professionalism” award at this weekend’s District Competition at Central Washington University in Ellensberg, and also gathered enough points in the competition to qualify for the Pacific Northwest Championships, coming up in Portland. After going 9-3 in their qualifying matches for a sixth-place ranking out of 35 teams, Bits and Bots won a quarterfinal match, and then lost in the semifinals. The team was presented with the “Gracious Professionalism” award for the way that they went to help other teams that were having technical or equipment problems. 64 teams from Washington and Oregon will compete in Portland from April 10th to the 12th, going after a chance to qualify for the World Championships in Saint Louis, coming up at the end of April.
