The Coast Guard now reports that one person was rescued from a boat that sank this morning near the Kalama Marina. An alert went out at about 5:45 am, after it was reported that a boat had gone down, and another passing vessel had pulled a man out of the water. Coast Guard officials say that the 20-foot boat had been at anchor, and got snagged as it was swinging around on the tide. The boat sank, while the sole male occupant was able to escape. They say that the boat is not a hazard to navigation, and that the owner will be responsible for having it removed.
