Local retailers are getting the word to be on the alert, after several counterfeit $100 bills showed up over the weekend. Authorities say that a number of bills were reported in the Longview area, then yesterday afternoon, another possible incident was reported at the Woodland Wal-Mart store. This last incident was called in at about 2:30 pm yesterday. Store employees tried to stall the person who had passed the bill, but the suspect ran out of the store, and was able to evade local police. Local retailers are being reminded that they should check all large bills for security marks and strips, and to also use counterfeit-detecting pens on those large bills.
