Bond Forum

A public meeting is planned this evening at Kelso High School, where you’ll be able to get information and then share your thoughts regarding a possible $98.6 million bond measure. After getting a report regarding the current state of facilities in the district, they’re now considering the bond measure to upgrade and improve facilities across the district. Under the plan that was presented, Wallace Elementary and Beacon Hill Elementart would be replaced on-site, while a new elementary would be built in the Lexington area, and Catlin Elementary School would be “re-purposed.” Other projects include district-wide safety and security updates, improvements to high school and middle school athletic facilities, improvements to parking and traffic flows, and other upgrades. It’s currently estimated that the bond would increase property taxes by about $68 per year. Tonight’s meeting starts at 7 pm, and is open to anyone interested. Input is also being accepted on the Kelso School District web page, through the Thoughtexchange process. That online input will be available through the 18th; a second public meeting is also being set up on the 17th, also at Kelso High School.
