Oregon State Police now report that Noah Waite-Brown, 8, of Longview has died from the severe injuries that he received in a car crash that took place eight days ago, a collision that also took the life of his father, Lucas William Brown, 36, of Longview. OSP is continuing to investigate the crash, which occurred around 5:35 pm on Sunday, the 14th, about 13 miles west of Clatskanie. They’re now releasing witness statements saying that Brown was speeding just prior to the collision, including one person who says that Brown passed him in a reckless manner just a few minutes prior to the crash. Along with the fatal injuries to Lucas and Noah Waite-Brown, Kane Brown, 7, was also injured in the crash; he was taken to Oregon Health and Science University, and then was released from the hospital several days later. The driver of the other car involved, Kimberly Anne Sultan, 42, of Astoria, is still in serious condition at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. Three other people in Sultan’s car suffered lesser injuries, and were taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria for treatment. Memorial services for father and son are still pending. Longview School officials are planning to have additional counselors available for students and staff at Columbia Heights Elementary School, where Noah Waite-Brown was a third-grader.
