The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says that the body of a five year-old Tacoma boy may have been found in the Cispus River near Randle, but they haven’t yet been able to recover that body. The Centralia Chronicle says that Drake Ostenson fell into the water over the Memorial Day weekend, as he was riding a motorcycle near the family campsite about ten miles outside of Randle. After two days of searching, Sheriff Steve Mansfield says that they believe that they have located the boy’s body beneath a log jam about a mile downstream from where he first went into the water, but the extremely swift and cold water is complicating the recovery effort. Mansfield says that they may have to wait for the river to drop a couple of feet before it’s safe to make an attempt. He says that the dive team and swift water rescue teams are dedicated to completing that effort as soon as possible.
