The second Open House on the replacement of the Washington Way Bridge is planned for this evening in the John Searing Auditorium at the Cowlitz PUD Building, where you will have a chance to review and comment on the preferred alternative for the design of that bridge. During a workshop held last month, the City Council indicated that it would prefer a three-span concrete bridge, with concrete architectural railings. They also decided that the bridge should have 8-foot sidewalks, and should have five travel lanes. Detailed drawings of the bridge, the railings and footings will be presented at this evening’s workshop, which will run from 5 to 7 pm. The city is planning to have the design completed by next spring, with a goal of starting construction in July of next year. Completion is planned for the fall of 2015. All who are interested can attend this evening’s Open House.
