Oregon State Police say that a motorcycle rider from Scappoose was critically injured in a crash that took place Friday morning in the southeastern part of the state. Lucinda Gardner, 49, and Derry York, 58, had been riding on Oregon Highway 205, about 21 miles south of Burns, when they came upon a van stopped in the middle of the road. Both bikers braked suddenly, with York rear-ending Gardner’s machine. York suffered major injuries in the crash, and was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Bend. Gardner was taken to Burns to get treatment for minor injuries. The driver of the van, Joseph Randall, 55, of Corvallis, was cited for impeding traffic.
