Longview Police say that Dillon Charles Payne, 19, had a busy day yesterday, as he was allegedly involved in a car prowl, the use of stolen credit cards, a bike theft and a pursuit, all between 8 am and 2 pm. Just after 8 am, a woman called LPD from the 3900 block of Pine Street, reporting that her car had been prowled. She reported that her wallet and credit cards had been stolen. Around 9, she called back, saying that she’d been notified that the stolen cards had been used at Fred Meyer and Walmart. As police were collecting security photos, working to identify the suspect, a woman called 911 from Fred Meyer, saying that a man had just stolen her bike. She says he rode off on one bike, and was pulling her bike beside him. Around 2 pm, a man living in the 3100 block of Michigan reported finding two bicycles stashed in a corner of his back yard, and when officers arrived, they spotted Payne, who had been identified from the security photos. He ran, containment was set up, and at about 2:15 pm, he was arrested in the back yard of a home in the 1800 block of Susan Avenue. Payne is now being charged with second-degree car prowling, fraud and second-degree theft. The stolen property was returned to its rightful owners.
