Saying that her estranged husband has been trying to run the business into the ground, Cadillac Island vice president Regina Bakunowicz made a plea to the Longview City Council yesterday, asking for some time to be able to pay the card room’s back taxes. Bakunowicz says that she has a plan in place to make the city whole, now that she’s running the facility full-time…cadillacisland…The city was preparing to send a letter to the Washington Gaming Commission, reporting that Cadillac Island was delinquent in making tax payments to the city since October. Bakunowicz claims that her soon-to-be-ex-husband and company president Jim, was trying to cause the business to close, and was purposefully not paying the taxes. At yesterday’s meeting, Bakunowicz outlined a repayment schedule to the city, with a plan of being completely up-to-date by the end of January. She pleaded for the Council NOT to send the letter to Olympia, saying that it would do irreparable harm. After meeting in executive session to discuss the matter, the Council gave its approval to her plan, with the provision that they would take action if it doesn’t come to completion.
