It’s time for would-be candidates to step up to the plate. In-person and on-line filing for the 2014 elections opens today and runs through the close of business on Friday. 22 positions are on the ballot this year, including the 3rd District Congressional seat, State Representative positions in the 19th and 20th Legislative districts, and a whole bunch of Cowlitz County elected seats. Those include Assessor, Auditor, Clerk, Sheriff, Treasurer, Prosecuting Attorney, and County Commission District 3, which covers the eastern and northern part of the county. Three District Court Judges are on the ballot, along with four Washington Supreme Court positions and one Court of Appeals seat. PUD Commissioner District 1 is also on this year’s ballot. Candidates can file by mail, on-line or in-person at the County Auditor’s Office in Kelso. Candidate filing will close promptly at 5 pm on Friday.
