Car Ignition

Posted on 23rd July 2013 at 15:57

No injuries were reported when a pickup suddenly caught fire in the far north end of Kelso. Just before 2 am, a 911 call came in from the area of North Pacific Avenue and Pleasant Hill Road. When Deputies arrived, they found a pickup that was engulfed in flames. Lin Kirkpatrick, 37, and Chrystal Kirkpatrick, 37, say that they were on their way home when they smelled gas inside the vehicle. They pulled over and opened the hood of the truck, finding gas spraying toward the back of the engine. That gas was pooling on the ground, and when they shut the truck off, it caught fire. Deputies say that the cab and engine compartments were completely engulfed in flames, and the vehicle was a total loss. Some sort of mechanical problem is suspected.
