Cowlitz County Search and Rescue is helping a Kelso man who wasn’t able to finish off a hike on Mount St. Helens last night. Around 9:45 pm, a friend of the man was able to get in touch with Cowlitz County Dispatch, reporting that the victim was up in the area of Castle Lake. He says that the victim was unable to go any further, due to extremely blistered feet, dehydration and exhaustion. The companion continued out, so he could call for help. A team from Cowlitz County SAR was called out, and was expected to head out early this morning. Updated progress hasn’t been reported, but authorities were optimistic about having a successful resolution.
