Taijuan Walker pitched one hit ball for six innings in the Mariners 7-0 shutout of the Padres. Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz each hit homers. The M’s are in Oakland for a game with the A’s tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Cowlitz Black Bears were swept in Medford after a 10-3 loss last night. The team is back home for a three game set with the Kelowna Falcons. The entry deadline is 5 pm today.

Mike Montgomery became just the 12th MLB rookie to throw back-to-back shutouts as the Mariners beat the Padres 5-0 last night. Montgomery took a no-hitter into the 7th inning before giving up just one hit in the game. The M’s and Padres play again today, KLOG 11:30 am…..The Cowlitz Black Bears were held to just four hits in a 3-1 loss at Medford last night. The Bears and Rogues close out the three game set tonight…..Pacific Tech swept the TC Bandits 11-1 and 3-2 in Senior Legion ball. Tyler Parsons and Steven Cristian-Zandi both had complete game victories…..In Junior Legion, Yancy Bird spun a two-hitter as Hilander Dental defeated Olympia 3-0…..The Trail Blazers agreed to a 4-year, $30 million free agent deal with forward Al-Farouq Amini, who played with Dallas in 2015.

The Mariners return to action after a day off as they are in San Diego against the Padres, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Medford Roques rallied for five runs in the 8th inning to beat the Cowlitz Black Bears 5-4 last night. The teams play again tonight at 6:35 pm…..The Pacific Tech Senior Legion team had a busy day yesterday, losing a Red Devil Classic semi-final game 8-0 to the NW Futures then heading north for a 12-3 league road win over the Thurston County Bandits. Pac Tech hosts the Bandits in a 4 pm DH at the RAL Lumberyard today…..In Junior Legion action today, Hilander Dental hosts Olympia at 6 pm at MM and Rightline Equipment is at Elma at 4 pm…..Signup forms for tomorrow’s LCC Girls Basketball Camp can be found at lccreddevils.com. The camp runs Wednesday-Friday.

Fanendo Adi scored two goals to lead the Timbers to a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders at a packed Providence Park in Portland yesterday…..The Mariners lost to the Angels 3-2 on a 10th inning wild pitch by Tom Wilhelmsen. The M’s have today off before playing at San Diego tomorrow…..Jake Nelson got the win on his birthday and Casey Henderson had seven RBI’s as the Black Bears beat Bend 10-6 on Sunday. The Bears are at Medford tonight…..The DiMarini Renegades outscored Pacific Tech 16-14 in Sunday action at the Red Devil Baseball Classic. Pac Tech plays a 9 am semi-final game today with the title game at 2 pm, all at Story Field…..The WSJGA junior golf Sub-District is today at the Longview Country Club…..Roots with Josh Wilson takes 2nd at Spokane Hoopfest.

The Trail Blazers selected Rondae Hollis-Jefferson in the first round of the NBA Draft, then traded him along with Steve Blake to the Brooklyn Nets for Mason Plumlee and Pat Connaughton…..The Mariners take on the Angels in Anaheim tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..Mitch Bevacqua’s RBI hit in the 11th inning gave the Cowlitz Black Bears an 8-7 win over Walla Walla. The Bears have won 7 of their last 10 games as they head to Bend for a three game series starting tonight…..Legion baseball takes center stage at Story Field starting today for the eight-team Red Devil Baseball Classic running through Monday. Pac Tech plays tonight at 8 pm. Pac Tech lost a non-leaguer 5-4 at Crater Lake yesterday……The WA Cavaliers host the Renton Ravens in semi-pro football Saturday 6pm at Kelso HS.

The NBA Draft is today, KLOG 4:00 pm. Portland traded Nicolas Batum to the Hornets for Gerald Henderson and Noah Vonleh. The move is in anticipation that LaMarcus Aldridge will likely leave the team via free agency…..The Royals scored seven runs in the 4th inning and went on to beat the Mariners 8-2. The M’s take today off before playing three against the Angels in Anaheim…..Kelso’s Slate Miller had two hits including a homer to lead the Black Bears to a 6-5 win over Walla Walla last night. The Bears go for the sweep of the Sweets tonight at 6:35 pm at Story Field…..The Pacific Tech Senior Legion team got great pitching from Dylann Reynolds in a 2-0 shutout at Medford. Pac Tech plays a DH against the Crater Lake Cardinals in Klamath Falls today.

Mike Montgomery pitched a complete game four-hitter as the Mariners blanked the Royals 7-0 last night. Dustin Ackley had three hits including a homer. The M’s play the Royals again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Cowlitz Black Bears gave head coach Grady Tweit a nice birthday present with a 12-1 pasting of the Walla Walla Sweets. Joe Balfour got the win and Slate Miller and Mitch Bevacqua provided three-run triples. The Sweets and Bears play again tonight, 6:35 pm at Story Field…..The Pacific Tech Senior Legion team begins a road trip with a 1 pm game at Medford today. In Junior Legion action yesterday Yancy Bird dominated with a one-hit shutout as Hilander Dental defeated River Ridge 7-0…..In MLS soccer today, the Timbers at the LA Galaxy the Sounders against Philadelphia.

Joe Blanton outpitched Felix Hernandez as the Kansas City Royals beat the Mariners 4-1. Robinson Cano’s first inning homer was all the M’s offense. The teams play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The Walla Walla Sweets are in Longview to play the Cowlitz Black Bears tonight, 6:35 pm at Story Field…..In Junior Legion ball, River Ridge is at Hilander Dental for a 6 pm single game at Mark Morris. Rightline Equipment has a 3 pm road DH against Aberdeen at Pioneer Park…..Husky quarterback Cyler Miles has decided to retire from college football due to a lingering hip injury…..Speaking on a North Carolina radio station about his contract situation, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson said “ I trust the process. I know God’s going to take me and put me where he wants me. I hope that’s Seattle.”

Jordan Spieth took advantage of Dustin Johnson’s three-putt on the 18th hole to capture the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay near Tacoma…..The Houston Astros beat the Seattle Mariners 6-2 on Sunday. The M’s host the Kansas City Royals tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm. Felix Hernandez gets the start for the M’s…..The Seattle Stars won the North vs South prep summer baseball tourney at Story Field over the weekend. Pacific Tech went 0-4…..The Washington schools outdueled the Oregon schools 50-43 in the 23rd Bud Clary War of the Border summer hoop tourney over the weekend. Mark Morris went 3-2, Toutle Lake was 2-1, Kelso went 2-2, R.A. Long was 1-3 and Rainier was 0-4. Washington leads the all-time series 13-10.
