KLOG Thursday Sports

The Mariners lost to the Rangers 8-5, a fifth straight loss. Seattle and Texas play again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The LCC soccer team is tied for second place in league after a 4-1 win over Centralia. Kayla Willis scored two goals to lead the way…..The LCC volleyball team opened league play with a 3-0 sweep over Centralia. Nina Bailey had 11 kills and a .588 hitting percentage…..Tonight in girls soccer, Washougal is at R.A. Long (6 pm), Hudson’s Bay visits Kelso (7 pm) and Mark Morris is at Columbia River (8 pm)…..In prep volleyball, Washougal at RAL and MM at River, both 7 pm…..In boys golf today, Camas and Kelso meet at Camas Meadows, MM, Prairie and Heritage compete at The Cedars and RAL meets Columbia River at Lewis River.

The Mariners have dropped four straight games as they fall out of playoff contention. The Rangers beat Seattle 3-1 last night. The M’s host Texas again tonight, KLOG 6:00 pm…..The LCC soccer team hosts Centralia today, a 4 pm start at Northlake Field…..In prep soccer last night, Kelso edged Heritage 1-0, R.A. Long blasted Woodland 9-1 and Black Hills got by Mark Morris 3-2…..The LCC volleyball team opens league play tonight when they host Centralia at 7 pm…..In high school volleyball last night, Union swept past Kelso 3-0 and Woodland defeated RAL 3-0…..The Kelso cross country teams both won at Heritage yesterday. Today in XC, R.A. Long visits Hockinson…..Ridgefield beat RAL 164-167 in boys golf yesterday. Kelso hosts Fort in a 3 pm match at Three Rivers.

The Mariners begin the final home stand of the season tonight as they host the Texas Rangers, KLOG 6:00 pm. The M’s are four games behind Minnesota for the final playoff spot with 12 games left…..In girls high school soccer yesterday, Kelso defeated Battle Ground 3-1. Tonight, Kelso is at Heritage (7:30 pm), Woodland at R.A. Long (6 pm) and Mark Morris at Black Hills (4 pm)…..In prep volleyball tonight, Union visits Kelso and Woodland at R.A. Long, both at 7 pm…..R.A. Long beat Washougal 161-185 in boys golf yesterday. The Jacks host Ridgefield today at 3:30 pm. Also, Kelso beat Hudson’s Bay 162-inc…..The Kelso cross country teams are at Heritage this afternoon at 4 pm…..In girls swimming, Kelso at Evergreen (4 pm) and RAL and MM at Fort Vancouver (3:30 pm).

The Seahawks finally got a touchdown as Russell Wilson hit Paul Richardson with a nine yard strike in the 4th quarter as Seattle beat San Francisco 12-6 yesterday. The 1-1 Hawks travel to Nashville to play the Tennessee Titans on Sunday…..Houston clinched the AL West with a 7-1 win over the Mariners yesterday. Seattle has today off before hosting the Rangers tomorrow night…..In girls soccer tonight, Kelso is at home against Battle Ground (7 pm)…..The LCC women’s soccer team shutout Grays Harbor 4-0 Saturday in Aberdeen…..Mark Morris senior Levi Delamarter won the All Around Cowboy award from the Washington State High School Rodeo stop in Longview Over the weekend. 200 high school and junior high competitors were in town.

Seattle moves on to Houston tonight, KLOG 4:00 pm…..The 70th Civil War football game is tonight at Longview Memorial Stadium, 6:45 pm on FM 105.5 Cookin Country. Kelso is at home against Lake Washington, FM 101.5 The Wave beginning with Football Friday pre game show at 6 pm…..The Seahawks home opener is Sunday at 1:25 pm against the 49’ers…..The Huskies host Fresno State tomorrow, 5:30 pm on The Wave. WSU hosts OU and the Ducks are at Wyoming…..In girls soccer, Kelso beat Aberdeen 3-1, Ridgefield over RAL 2-0 and Hockinson beat MM 4-0…..In volleyball, Kelso swept past Heritage 3-0, << beat Hockinson 3-2 and Ridgefield over RAL 3-0.

Mike Zunino hit two homers to lead the Mariners to an 8-1 victory over Texas yesterday. The M’s welcome Felix Hernandez off the disabled list to pitch today against the Rangers, KLOG 4:00 pm…..Former Kalama star Averi Dyer had 23 kills to lead Bellevue over LCC 3-1 in college volleyball last night…..Tonight in prep V-ball, Kelso is at Heritage, Hockinson at Mark Morris and R.A. Long at Ridgefield…..LCC tied Tacoma 3-3 in college soccer as Emily McCoy had a goal and an assist to lead the way…..Tonight in high school soccer, Kelso is at Aberdeen, RAL at Ridgefield (both at 7 pm) and Hockinson visits MM (5 pm)…..Kelso QB A.J. Hoggatt will have knee surgery today and will miss 4-6 weeks…..Pre-Sale tickets for tomorrow Civil War are on sale today and tomorrow from 11 to 3 at RAL.

Ben Gamel and Kyle Seager both hit three-run homers as the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers 10-3 last night. The M’s and Rangers play again today, KLOG 4:00 pm…..Maddie Wolff scored two goals to lead R.A. Long to a 2-0 soccer win over Kelso. Also, Heaven Burr had three goals for Mark Morris in a 5-0 shutout of Woodland…..The LCC soccer team hosts Tacoma today in a 4 pm match at Northlake Field…..The LCC volleyball team is also at home tonight for a 6 pm match with Bellevue…..In prep volleyball last night, Woodland swept by Mark Morris 3-0 and Castle Rock outlasted Kalama 3-2…..Pre-Sale tickets for Friday’s Civil War football game will available Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 3 pm at R.A. Long High School.

The M’s are 3 1/2 games out of the playoff chase as they take on the Rangers again today, KLOG 4:00 pm…..Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says RB Thomas Rawls will be ready to play Sunday against the 49’ers. Rawls missed the season opener with a sore ankle…..Lower Columbia College swept past Skagit Valley 3-0 in volleyball last night…..In prep volleyball, Kelso blanked R.A. Long 3-0 and Mark Morris defeated Evergreen 3-1. The Monarchs are at Woodland tonight at 7 pm…..The R.A. Long girls soccer team hosts Kelso in a 6 pm match at Longview Memorial. Mark Morris is at Woodland at 7 pm…..The Kelso cross country teams run against Battle Ground this afternoon in a 4 pm meet at Lewisville Park.

The Seahawks offensive line struggled in a 17-9 loss at Green Bay yesterday. The Hawks couldn’t muster a touchdown, although the defense played well. The Hawks host San Francisco next Sunday…..Justin Upton hit a two-run double in the 8th inning which gave the L.A. Angels a 5-3 victory over the Mariners on Sunday. Seattle begins a four game set at Texas today, KLOG 4:00 pm…..The Sounders got a late goal to salvage a 1-1 tie with the L.A. Galaxy last night…..The LCC volleyball team hosts an afternoon match with Skagit Valley today. Start time is 4 pm…..In prep volleyball tonight, R.A. Long is at Kelso and Mark Morris at Evergreen, both at 7 pm…..The RAL boys golf team hosts Battle Ground in a 3:30 pm match at Mint Valley. MM plays Hudson’s Bay at Heron Lakes.
