KLOG Monday Sports

The RPI rankings are compiled and the State basketball Regional matchups set. The Kelso boys won the 3A Bi-District title with an impressive 62-49 victory over previously unbeaten Lincoln. The Scots are the 4th seed and will play Timberline Saturday at 12pm at Battle Ground. The Mark Morris boys won the District crown with a 50-49 win over Columbia River. The Monarchs are the 4th seed and will take on Mountlake Terrace Saturday at 4pm at W.F. West in Chehalis…..The Kelso Lassies are the 16th seed and will play Bellevue at 6 pm Friday at Bellevue College…..Christian Freund of Kelso captured a second consecutive State wrestling championship at Mat Classic XXX at the Tacoma Dome Saturday. The Hilanders ended up 4th in the team competition.

Kelso defeated North Thurston 67-58 to advance to the 3A Bi-District championship. Shaw Anderson had 32 points to lead the way. Kelso plays Lincoln tomorrow at 12 pm at Puyallup HS, KLOG 11:55 am. The Mark Morris boys take on Columbia River for the boys 2A District title tonight at the St. Martins Pavilion in Lacey, 7:45 pm on FM 101.5 The Wave…..The Kelso Lassies play Peninsula for seeding at the girls 3A Bi-District tonight at Rogers HS in Puyallup, 5:55 pm on KLOG…..10 Hilanders and six Lassies are on hand at Mat Classic XXX at the Tacoma Dome starting today. The Kelso wrestlers trying to get that elusive team title for legendry head coach Bob Fruend…..The State boys swimming championships begin today at the King County Aquatic Center.

The Blazers beat the Golden State Warriors 123-117 behind the 44 of Damian Lillard. Kevin Durant had 50 for GS. The Blazers are off for eight days…..Kylee Gibbs scored 23 points to lead Kelso to a 60-42 win over Yelm in the 3A Bi-District last night. Kelso qualifies for the 3A Regionals and they will play Peninsula for seeding tomorrow night at 6 pm at Rogers HS in Puyallup. Washougal defeated Mark Morris 64-49 at the girls 2A District, eliminating the Monarchs…..The Kelso boys take on North Thurston tonight in the 3A Bi-District. The game is at 6 pm at Foss HS in Tacoma, KLOG 5:55 pm…..The LCC hoop teams swept Pierce, 82-45 in the women’s game and 86-73 in the men’s tilt…..New Mariners 1st baseman Ryon Healy had a bone spur removed from his hand and will miss 4 weeks.

Mark Morris defeated Centralia 76-49 to advance to the Boys 2A District title game. Tyler Berger had 27 and Garrett Berger had 25 as MM will take on Columbia River at 8 pm Friday at St. Martins. The start time for the Kelso boys 3A Bi-District game Thursday against North Thurston has been moved to 6 pm at Foss HS…..The Kelso Lassies face a must-win 3A Bi-District game with Yelm tonight at Clover Park, 5:55 pm on KLOG. The Mark Morris girls take on Washougal in a loser out game tonight at Ridgefield, 5:45 pm on FM 101.5 The Wave…..The LCC teams are at Pierce tonight with the women at 6 pm and the men at 8 pm…..The Trail Blazers host the Golden State Warriors tonight, KLOG after the Kelso playoff. It’s the Blazers last game before the All-Star break.

The Kelso Lassies stayed alive at the 3A Bi-District with a 61-30 victory over Bonney Lake last night. Kelso will take on Yelm in another loser-out game tomorrow night at 6 pm. W.F. West did not hold back in a 95-37 win over Mark Morris in the Girls 2A District. The Monarchs will look to stay alive when they play Washougal tomorrow night, 6 pm at Ridgefield. Woodland beat Centralia 69-59 to stay alive. The Beavers play Columbia River tomorrow night at 7:45 pm…..The Mark Morris boys take on Centralia in the 2A District semi-finals tonight at R.A. Long, 5:45 pm on FM 101.5 The Wave. The Toledo boys beat Chief Leschi to keep it going at the 2B District. Toledo plays Willipa Valley in a 7:30 pm game at Castle Rock. Toutle Lake plays Napavine in a boys 2B game at Kelso, 6 pm start tonight.

The Kelso Lassies need a win tonight to keep the season going as they face a 3A Bi-District loser out game with Bonney Lake. The game is at 7:45 pm at Clover Park HS, KLOG at 7:40 pm. The Mark Morris girls try and pull off the upset over W.F. West in the 2A Girls District tonight. The 7:45 pm game is at R.A. Long HS, 7:30 pm on FM 101.5 The Wave…..The Kelso boys are going to the 3A Regionals for the first time in 25 years after Saturday’s win over Wilson. The Scots continue Bi-District Thursday night against North Thurston at Foss HS. The Mark Morris boys beat Tumwater Saturday to advance to play Centralia tomorrow night at RAL…..10 Kelso Hilanders qualified for Mat Classic after taking second at the 3A Regionals in Spokane. Six Kelso girls advance to Mat Classic after taking 3rd.

Kelso beat Peninsula 68-46 in boys 3A Bi-District action last night. Shaw Anderson scored 28 to lead the way. Kelso takes on Wilson tomorrow at 3:45 pm at Puyallup HS, KLOG 3:40 pm. MM hosts Tumwater tomorrow night in the opening round of the boys 2A District, 6:45 pm on 101.5 The Wave…..The Kelso Lassies take on Bethel tonight in the girls 3A Bi-District. The game at Rogers HS in Puyallup begins at 6 pm, 5:55 pm on KLOG. The MM girls host Centralia tonight in the second round of the 2A District, 6:45 pm on The Wave…..The Blazers beat Charlotte 109-103 in OT last night. Portland is at Sacramento tonight, KLOG after Kelso…..The LCC hoops teams host Centralia on Saturday with the women’s game at 5 pm and the men’s game at 7 pm.

Kelso defeated Shelton 68-55 in 3A Bi-District girls basketball last night. Alexis Kleven led the way with 25 points. The Lassies play Bethel Friday night at Rogers High in Puyallup. The Mark Morris girls will host Centralia in the 2A District on Friday after they beat Hockinson 62-48 last night…..The Kelso boys host Peninsula tonight in the 3A Bi-District, 6:55 pm on FM 101.5 The Wave. It’s a “Blue Out” as fans are asked to wear blue…..The LCC women’s basketball team blasted Green River 104-28 as Kenya Lorton made all seven of her shots for 22 points. The LCC men defeated Green River 80-68 as Spencer Sweet had 23 points…..The Huskies are in Eugene to play the Ducks tonight. WSU is at Oregon State…..The Blazers host the Charlotte Hornets tonight, KLOG 6:05 pm.

The Mark Morris boys basketball team beat Ridgefield 50-41 last night. The Monarchs captured a share of the GSHL 2A title, their 18th consecutive league championship. MM will flip a coin with River for the top seed into District. The R.A. Long Lumberjacks honored retiring head coach Rally Wallace with a win in his final game at the helm. The Jacks upset Hockinson 55-52 last night…..The Kelso girls will host Shelton tonight in the Bi-District playoffs, KLOG 6:55 pm. It’s a “White Out” as all fans are asked to wear white. Kelso students get free admission and free pizza…..The Lower Columbia College basketball teams host Green River tonight, women at 6 pm and men at 8 pm. It’s ASLCC Night with free pizza and prizes for all fans.

The Blazers went 0-3 on their road trip after a 111-91 loss at Detroit yesterday…..The Mark Morris boys host Ridgefield tonight (6:45 pm on FM 101.5 The Wave) and with a win can get at least a tie for an 18th straight league title. The R.A. Long boys close out the season at home against Hockinson…..In girls play last night, Mark Morris beat Ridgefield 60-47. The Monarchs will play Hockinson at Ridgefield tomorrow night at 7 pm to decide seeding into District. A Monarch win would give them home court in the first round. Also last night, Hockinson needed OT to beat R.A. Long 65-61. The Jills season ends at 5-15…..In boys 2B playoff action last night, Toutle Lake beat Rainier, WA and Winlock downed Ocosta to advance. Kalama and Wahkiakum both lost and were eliminated.
