For the second time in a week, Longview residents are reporting that they’ve seen a large, spotted cat, both times being described as a cheetah. The first incident took place last Tuesday in the 500 block of Olson Road, then a call came in yesterday afternoon in the 3100 block of North Ammons Drive. A woman living in that area reported seeing the large cat at about 2:20 pm, going in and out of the bushes. She also reports that the cat seemed to be domesticated, reportedly very calm while local residents took pictures. The first report also indicated that the cat seemed to be “tame.” The Humane Society responded to the area, and with help from a local veterinary worker, they captured the animal at about 5 pm. Humane Society Director Rick Johnson says that the large cat had been reported as missing by a Longview woman around one week ago; it’s noted that she had a permit for this type of animal, so it was returned to her after its capture and examination.
