The City of Longview is also out with some advice on precautions you should be taking with this next cold snap. City Manager Bob Gregory says that if it’s at all possible, “stay in, stay dry and stay warm.” They say that you should take steps to prevent frozen pipes, by making sure that pipes are insulated, and to seal leaks that allow cold air to penetrate where pipes are located. Leave inside faucets on a slow drip to avoid freezing. Make sure that you have a proper heating source, remembering to never use charcoal barbecues, propane heaters or unvented gas heaters indoors or in closed spaces. Gregory also says that the city is ready with sand and gravel for local streets, but he says that you should ask yourself “is this trip really necessary?”, and try to stay off the roads if at all possible.
