A month-long closure of the lower portion of Columbia Heights Road is scheduled to start today, as work begins on construction of a retaining wall in the area that slumped earlier this year. The City of Longview plans to close Columbia Heights Road between Upper and Lower Maplewood Drive as a contractor constructs a retaining wall, with a goal of repairing damage and stabilizing the hillside that failed. If you need to get up and down from Columbia Heights will need to use Laurel Road, Glenwood Road and Virginia Way, or use Nevada Drive off of West Side Highway. The closure will be in place continuously whil this work is under way. The City of Longview has more information.
