The Longview City Council has a long night blocked out again, starting at 5 pm with a workshop session. This workshop will be focused on the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts and upcoming capital needs at that facility. Upgrades and repairs to the air conditioning, the front doors, dewatering pump replacement and more are needed; it’s possible that needed repairs could be funded with an extension of the two-hundredths of one percent sales tax that funds the Cowlitz Public Facilities District.
At the regular 7 pm meeting, the Council will hear recommendations from the Historic Preservation Commission on possible renovations to R. A. Long Park in the Civic Circle, and they’ll also hear about an application from Pacific Coast Fertilizer, which may be looking to build a production facility at the Mint Farm. Both the workshop and the regular meeting are open to the public.
