The Longview City Council will be looking at a couple of proposals for concessions at Lake Sacajawea at tonight’s workshop session. City staff reports that the city has had an RFP for food concessions at the lake out for about a year, and had not received any proposals until last month. Last month, two separate parties contacted the city about possible concession opportunities, one for a shave ice concession, the other for a kayak/paddle-boat rental and tour concession. Staff members say that they have met with both parties, and have initially found their plans acceptable. The concessionaires also met with the ad hoc “concessions committee,” comprised of City Council and Parks Board members, to discuss proposals and impressions. After those meetings, the committee decided that the proposals have merit and should be presented to the full City Council for consideration and input. Also on tonight’s agenda will be a discussion about the HOME/CDBG Consolidated Plan, along with an executive session on real estate issues. This workshop session starts at 6 pm in the second floor training room at the Longview City Hall, and is open to the public.
