Court Hearings

Posted on 30th September 2011 at 08:34

The ILWU and representatives of Local 21 will be in a Federal courtroom today, as District Court Judge Ronald Leighton considers the fines to be levied for their tactics in connection with the EGT labor dispute. The NLRB has asked the court to fine the International Longshore and Warehouse Union more than $290,000 for damages and expenses from protests earlier this month. In addition, oral arguments are also scheduled in connection with the motion for summary judgement that’s been filed in connection with the lawsuit filed by EGT against the Port of Longview. That hearing is scheduled for 1:30 this afternoon. It’s not known at this time if Leighton plans to issue a ruling, but the Cowlitz County Commissioners have requested an “expedited decision” in the case.
