The Castle Rock City Council is moving ahead on a substantial annexation to the city, a move that would increase the size of “The Rock” by nearly 25 percent. Today’s Daily News reports on the vote at last night’s City Council meeting, where they approved adding 275 acres near Four Corners and the High School to the city limits. The area being annexed includes the Castle Rock Fairgrounds, the race park, and several businesses in the Four Corners area. The annexation was started after Castle Rock took over providing water and sewer services to that area, assuming that responsibility from the county. Another Council vote is required in two weeks, then paperwork will need to be filed with the county and the state. Mayor Paul Helenberg says that they hope to have the process complete by the end of next month.
