Lower Columbia CAP, NORPAC and Weyerhaeuser are calling last month’s 3rd annual Diaper Drive a huge success, with more than 92,000 diapers collected by local employees, going to local non-profits. World-wide, Weyerhaeuser offices collected more than 1.2 million diapers. Eddie Martin with NORPAC says that their division collected more than 50,000 diapers, a number that was 67 percent higher than last year. Weyerhaeuser’s Liquid Packaging Division also showed huge improvement; Mary Estes says that they brought in more than 19,500 diapers, almost double the number from last year. Volunteers from the Help Food Warehouse picked up the diapers, and are now in the process of distributing those supplies to the Emergency Support Shelter, local food banks and Head Start. This is one of two diaper distribution events that the Help Warehouse coordinates each year.
