If you have expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs that you need to get rid of, Longview Police and the Drug Enforcement Agency are holding a “Medication Take-Back Event” tomorrow. Between 10 am and 2 pm, you’ll be able to drop those materials off, no questions asked. Along with keeping these materials from being stolen or abused, this also helps to prevent improper disposal of medications, as traces of drugs are now showing up in drinking water supplies around the country. Last October, 324 tons of drugs were collected across the country, with more than 4,100 Take-Back sites set up. Be aware that tomorrow’s event will accept pills and patches only; they will not be able to accept liquids, needles or sharps. If you’re not able to get to tomorrow’s event, be aware that drug drop-off locations are set up at the Longview and Kelso Police Departments, along with the lobby of the Hall of Justice. Contact your local police agency for more details.
