Longview’s 19th annual Earth Day celebration is set for tomorrow at the Cowlitz County Expo Center, running form 10 am to 3:30 pm, rain or shine. One of the highlights of the event will be the return of Garth Pithan and the Reptile Road Show. Pithan lost about three-quarters of his reptile menagerie in a fire last fall, followed by a burglary at his fire-damaged hose. Pithan still plans to bring a number of animals for display at tomorrow’s event, and says that construction on his new home starts next week. Other features will be “Recalypso,” a Carribean band playing instruments made from recycled materials, Eartha the Environmental Clown, a climbing wall, free fir seedlings, a petting zoo, Smokey Bear, exhibits from OMSI, face-painting, a trout pond and other educational booths. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
