Castle Rock-based Erosion Control Specialists is now paying off a fine that was imposed by the Department of Ecology, after the agency found that the company illegally pumped water out of a creek for a hydro-seeding project. Yesterday, Ecology reported on third-quarter environmental violations and fines, saying that Erosion Control Specialists is being fined $2,000, for failing to comply with an order to stop illegally pumping water out of Leckler Creek, and then for continuing to use that public water for a hydro-seeding operation, without having a legal water right. The violation was reported on August 31st, and the fine is reportedly being paid off in installments.
