Big changes are being announced at KLOG 1490 in Kelso, as the station changes from its mix of classic hits and contemporary music to 24-hour ESPN Radio. Station General Manager Joel Hanson says that this now means that KLOG Home Team 1490 will be showcasing the best sports events, the best sports reporting and best sports talk that is available over the air. Hanson says that the combination of ESPN, the worldwide leader in sports, with the continuing presence of KLOG as the leader in local news and sports is an “unbeatable combination.” He says that’s in addition to the area’s top-rated morning show, so listeners now will be getting a complete package of local and national sports. Hanson says that KLOG will continue to carry the Washington Huskies, the Seattle Mariners and the Portland Trailblazers, along with our coverage of Kelso, LCC and other local sports. In addition, KLOG will now be able to carry ESPN coverage of the NFL, NCAA, the NBA, Major League Baseball and other national sporting events. Hanson says that when they had a chance to pick up ESPN Radio, it was the “perfect addition” to their family of stations, with number-one-rated Cookin’ Country, 105.5 FM and Classic Rock on 101.5 FM. He says this move makes this group of stations the clear choice for local listeners, along with being a great avenue for local businesses to tell their stories.
