Extension Workshops

Posted on 14th November 2013 at 17:06

You can get some tips and ideas for home-crafted holiday gifts at a workshop that’s planned for lunchtime today. Representatives of the WSU Master Gardeners, 4-H, Clothing and Textiles programs will be on hand for the workshop, where they will share their ideas for gifts from the kitchen, the garden, the sewing room and the craft room. Today’s program is free, and should give you some ideas for those personal and handmade gifts that you would like to give. The workshop starts at noon in the General Meeting Room on the third floor of the County Administration Building in Kelso. Call 577-3014, extension 3 for more details.

You can learn about the benefits of having a rail barrel at a workshop planned for this evening, presented by the WSU Master Gardeners. Jon Griffin will talk about the benefits of using rain barrels, and you’ll learn how to build them. In fact, everyone who attends tonight’s workshop will be taking home a rain barrel. Griffen will talk about how to get start, what to look for when buying a suitable barrel, along with tips on building a system that makes economic and environmental sense. There is a fee for attending tonight’s workshop; additional rain barrels will also be available for purchase. Tonight’s workshop starts at 6 pm in the Agricultural Building at the Cowlitz County Fairgrounds. Preregistration is also required. Call Gary Fredericks at 577-3014, extension 3 to get signed up, or if you need more information.
