Cowlitz County Dive Rescue was put on alert yesterday morning, while law enforcement took a close look at both sides of the Cowlitz River, following up on a report that a body had been spotted in the river. Around 5:30 yesterday morning, a man called 911 to say that he’d seen a body in the water, also claiming that it was missing a leg. The man reportedly said that he was in the 2000 block of South Pacific, near a railroad crossing and some apartments. However, when authorities tried to call him back, they were unable to connect. Kelso Police checked the east side of the river, while Longview Police checked the west side, and didn’t find anything. It doesn’t appear that authorities were ever able to re-contact the man who first called 911.
