The Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office reports that Harlie DesArmo, 15, of Castle Rock was killed instantly Monday night, when she and her sister, Courtney, 18, were hit by a Suzuki Samurai driven by Levi Laney, 22, of Castle Rock. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation into the collision, which took place around 10 pm Monday night, as the girls were walking in the 400 block of Bond Road. Laney says that he was driving northbound, and didn’t see the girls in time to avoid hitting them. The Coroner’s office says that Harlie suffered multiple blunt-force traumatic injuries, and was killed instantly. Courtney also suffered multiple injuries, and is currently listed in satisfactory condition at St. John Medical Center in Longview. The Sheriff’s Office says that there are no indications of driver impairment or excessive speed in connection with this collision, but the investigation is continuing. They say that Laney is fully cooperating with the investigation, and toxicology tests are pending. A vigil for Harlie DesArmo is planned for 7 pm this evening in Rocket Stadium at Castle Rock High School. Candles will not be allowed, but friends of the girls are being asked to share photos and memories of Harlie.
