Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue is still working to figure out what caused a fire that did substantial damage to an unoccupied home on Kelso Drive early on Saturday morning. Cowlitz 2 was joined by units from Cowlitz Fire District 6 in Castle Rock and Cowlitz 5 in Kalama in battling the fire at 2112 Kelso Drive, reported at about 5 am on Saturday. The initial responders say that the two-story house was about 30 percent involved in flames; there was no fire hydrant near the house, so firefighters had to use water tenders to bring water to the house. No one was in the house when the fire broke out. Kelso Police are also joining in the investigation into the cause of this fire.
