State Troopers continue to investigate Friday’s rollover crash on I-5 in Castle Rock, a collision that left an Aberdeen man in critical condition. The crash happened at about 6:45 last Friday morning, on I-5 southbound at milepost 49. Alfredo Hernandez-Bernal, 31, of Aberdeen had been driving in the right lane, when a small SUV driven by Nicolae Sochirca, 21, of Vancouver drifted from the left lane and hit Hernandez-Bernal’s pickup. He lost control, shooting across all three lanes of the southbound freeway. The pickup went into the median and rolled twice, coming to rest in the middle lane of the northbound freeway. Hernandez-Bernal was taken by LifeFlight to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, and has upgraded to satisfactory condition. Two other people in the pickup suffered lesser injuries. They were taken to St. John Medical Center for treatment. No charges have been filed as of yet, but the investigation continues.
