There’s a heat advisory up for the local area today, saying that we’re going to get some unusually high late-summer temperatures. The Weather Services says that a strong upper-level high pressure system is moving across the area, with a surface thermal low. The result of this will be high temperatures that are about 15 degrees above normal, with local high temperatures into the 90’s. They say record highs are possible in some spots. The advisory is in effect until 9 pm tonight, with temperatures cooling back into the 80’s by tomorrow. You’re advised to take precautions to avoid the heat today; try not to work in the direct sun, and be sure to stay hydrated.
