There’s a Heat Advisory up for the local area through tonight, along with a Red Flag Warning for the possibility of dry lightning going through tomorrow night. The Weather Service has a Heat Advisory up for the local area until 9 pm tonight, calling for high temperatures to be up near the century mark. They also say that this “broad thermal trough” of low pressure has developed all across the region, making for dry, gusty winds, along with unstable conditions in the upper atmosphere. This combination could lead to abundant dry lightning, along with wind gusts of up to 40 miles an hour. Forecasters say that the extremely dry conditions make for the possibility of multiple fire starts, along with the potential for “explosive” fire growth. Conditions are expected to improve late tomorrow morning. You’re urged to take precautions to protect yourself from today’s extreme heat, and to make sure that you’re being extremely careful with any type of flame or heat source during these hyper-dry conditions.
