Starting this morning, the annual Hood-to-Coast Relay will get started at Mt. Hood, with 17,000 runners then taking part in the relay that will end at the Pacific Ocean in Seaside. The relay comes through Columbia County, using Highway 30 from Scappoose to Saint Helens. Just south of St. Helens, the relay course veers off of the main highway at Church Road. The runners will then go past the Columbia County Fairgrounds, running through rural area of the county before leaving through the Mist-Birkenfeld area on Apiary Road. Columbia County officials say that you will need to be aware of some traffic control changes for the relay, including a restriction on left turns off of Highway 30 at Church Road. More information is available on the Hood-to-Coast Relay webpage, or you can follow them on Twitter.
