The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 70 year-old man died during a weekend hunting trip near Kalama. Around 8:30 yesterday morning, companions of the victim called 911, reporting that the man was overdue on a trip up on Italian Creek Road. The last contact with the man took place at about 10 am on Saturday; they also reported that the victim had parked in the 700 block of Italian Creek, and went into the woods. The companions called back about a half-hour later, reporting that they had found the man’s body. The cause of death hasn’t been disclosed, but it was reported that the victim had a history of heart disease, having suffered a heart attack about 15 years ago. The County Coroner took possession of the body, with autopsy results pending. The man’s name also hasn’t been released, pending notification of next of kin.
