Work is continuing on the new 139th Street interchange, just south of the I-5/I-205 split at the north end of Vancouver, and starting tonight, you’ll need to be ready for a traffic shift that’s going into effect. Starting at 10 pm tonight, work crews will be shifting northbound I-205 to the left lane and shoulder near the new interchange bridge. Travel lanes will also be narrowed in that area over the next two months, as work to lower the freeway by some eight feet moving it 40 feet to the east is completed. Once this realignment is complete, traffic will be getting an additional 16 feet of clearance underneath the new interchange bridge. Several months of work on the interchange is still needed, and additional lane shifts and overnight closures are still coming in the future. The Washington Department of Transportation will send out alerts as those events are scheduled.
