A Longview driver was involved in a two-car crash on I-5 north of Vader yesterday afternoon. The State Patrol reports that Brian Nash, 21, of Longview was rear-ended as he slowed for traffic at milepost 65 northbound, a few minutes before 3 pm. As Nash was slowing down, he was hit from behind by Nereida Chavez-Barriga, 29, of Mount Vernon. Neither driver was hurt, but a passenger in Chavez-Barriga’s car, Ignacia Chavez, 60, was taken to Centralia Providence Hospital after he complained of back pain. Troopers blame the crash on following too closely, and they cited Chavez-Barriga for driving too fast for the conditions.
