A three-car crash reported yesterday morning on I-5 northbound near Woodland is being blamed on faulty equipment on a log truck. State Troopers say this happened shortly after 7 am, at milepost 20, just south of Woodland. Bruce Rickert, 42, of Corbett, Oregon was driving through a construction zone in that area, when a dual-wheel assembly broke off his truck, then hit a car being driven by Kayla Roque Villatoro, 21, of Mossyrock. Mickey Ross, 57, of Auburn then ran over the tire-wheel assembly, damaging his SUV. Villatoro suffered lacerations to her face and upper body, and was taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital in Vancouver for treatment. Rickert and Ross were unhurt. Rickert was cited for defective equipment.
