The State Patrol continues to investigate a fatal car crash that took place Sunday night on Jackson Highway south of Toledo. Troopers say that the crash happened a few minutes before 7 pm Sunday night, as Jonathon K. Reno, 42, of Vancouver was driving southbound at a high rate of speed. His 1991 Honda Accord hit a guard rail as he tried to make a corner, and then went across the highway and slammed into a utility pole. The impact was on the passenger door of the car, where Adam Newstrom, 28, of Vancouver was sitting. Newstrom died at the scene; Reno was taken by LifeFlight to PeaceHealth Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, where he’s listed in stable condition this morning. It’s noted that neither man was wearing a seat belt. WSP says that they expect to file charges against Reno when the investigation is concluded.
